
Our primary composting focus is to minimize the amount of food waste that is generated in our dining operations.
To do so, we have installed two ECorect machines: one in Ban Righ in 2009 and one in Leonard Hall in 2011.
This DeHydrator System is a unique waste management system that reduces waste volume by 9 to 1 (93%)… and with no environmental impact!
The material that comes out of the composter is put into organics collection toters & sent to the Norterra Composting facility in Joyceville.
Our retail outlets are also participating in the organics program. In 2010-11, food services groups on campus diverted approximatively 170 MT of organic material from landfill.
